Fraser Beach

STOP PRESS: News just in from Portsmouth City Council – QinetiQ have withdrawn their planning application.

Fraser Beach (it’s the bit in front of Fraser Battery towards Langstone Harbour) is located at Eastney in Portsmouth.  It’s a quiet small beach that’s often referred to as the “Local’s Beach”.  There’s a fair mix of people that use Fraser Beach: walkers, dog-walkers (who are barred from many of the other local beaches), fishermen (can be a bit of a hot spot apparently) as well as naturists (who have been using the beach, without problems, since WWII).

Village Green?
Eastney Neighbourhood Forum applied on 7 June 2010 to register the beach as a Village Green.  Yes, a beach can be registered as a Village Green.  It’s been done elsewhere in the country (Shoreham), so there is a precedent.

The Village Green application is crucial to guarantee Fraser beach access for the future.
